Tanisha Saunders

LAHSA Commission

We identified Saunders’ voice at three meetings.

Three clips, newest first

Homelessness and LAHSA“It was, it was a great time. But one of the things I learned is that, you know, we were creating these beautiful policies based on best practices, and I had my own experiences with homelessness, but I didn’t understand how things worked on the front lines.”Tanisha SaundersCommissioner · LAHSA Commission · Feb 27, 2026 · 2:54:13Play at 2:54:13
“Respond, uh, to the, the shortened timeline. The $700,000 is up to the amount that we recommend. So going with KPMG, that total cost proposed was for a year at $652,000. So that still falls within the cost-effective approach, if I’m not mistaken.”Tanisha SaundersCommissioner · LAHSA Commission · Sep 25, 2026 · 1:01:00Play at 1:01:00
“And that was my, you know, that was the direction I wanted to go in. And it is, again, we have had through the single audits, I have been through a few here, and I will say some have gone really smoothly, others have been close to the deadline. And so always having that best practice is really important.”Tanisha SaundersCommissioner · LAHSA Commission · Mar 31, 2026 · 34:26Play at 34:26

How we identify who is speaking · blind check, pooled across five cities: of 340 commission lines drawn, 260 right, 4 wrong, 1 unclear, 75 couldn’t be judged

A meeting missing here means we couldn’t attribute the voice, not that Saunders was absent. Claude and Gemini each read every transcript with that day’s roster. A voice gets Tanisha Saunders’s name only when both agree and a code check finds the name said on, or just before, their turn. Voices our transcripts merge with someone else’s are never attributed, so every count here undercounts what Saunders said. For commissions, of 340 lines drawn, 260 were right, 4 wrong and 1 unclear, and the checkers couldn’t judge 75. We have since removed the voices behind 64 of those lines (3 wrong, 0 unclear, the rest we had already held for other reasons). Of the 276 lines we still publish, the checkers could judge 228: 226 right, 1 wrong and 1 unclear (90% lower bound 0.97). They couldn’t judge the other 48. The check is one sample pooled across the five cities, not of Saunders or of Los Angeles alone.
