Chicago issues
Each issue's share of the 290 meetings transcribed, counting a meeting where an identified official raised it · Oct 24, 2025 – Oct 9, 2026
The issues Chicago officials raised, by share of meetings
How we count
Two AI models read each issue mention; a third checks a sample. A meeting counts when an identified official raised the issue. Shares are at least this high; shares within about a point of each other are a tie. More on how we know

2:18:32Do you actually think that’s fair? Do you actually think that that’s fair, that the mayor’s office has the final determination on what projects move forward as it relates to TIF projects with CPS?Anthony BealeMember · Committee on Finance · Oct 5, 2026Open the meeting at 2:18:32

2:45:50TIF districtsBecause again, I’m just fascinated at the fact that here we are 7 years later talking about Having passed TIFs for 2 projects that prior to COVID would have potentially created revenue and put us in a better position.

3:44:15Head tax and budget revenueI mean, I cannot believe that now, after some city council members proposed this budget, that we have the audacity to be blaming the administration for the utterly failure of balancing the budget. $130 million of the budget short of the projected revenue.

1:07:20CasinoAs you do know, the Gaming Board has issued some licenses, but the city has refused to issue permits locally. So there are none. So I’ll bring you up to speed on that. The, the, the issue here, why did you halt construction on everything other than the gaming floor?

Inspector general: 51 local news articles in 12 months, and 11 meetings that took it up.
Articles we found in Chicago's local outlets, Oct 24, 2025 – Oct 23, 2026 · meetings transcribed through Oct 9, 2026, where an official raised the issue, or where the topic was on the agenda · counts of articles we found, not all coverage
How we count
We searched each city's local outlets month by month for each issue and topic. An article counts when two AI readers agree it is about that issue in the city's government, and a third read a sample of what they kept. Paywalled outlets and some papers show fewer pages, so these are the articles we found. More on how we know
